Maxine Burna Detta Washburn, 88, of 619 Sunrise Ct., Center Point, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in her home, from heart failure. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Survivors include her husband, Lester; her daughters, Luetta Benton of Winthrop, Iowa, Dorothy Moore and husband James of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Linda Stoecker and husband Vern of Sebeka, Minnesota; a son, Lelan Keefer and wife Sheila of Columbus, Mississippi; two stepsons, Donald Washburn and wife Connie of Center Point and Duane Washburn and wife Vickie of Walker. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; ten stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy; three husbands, three sons in infancy; a son-in-law; and a stepgranddaughter.
Maxine was born May 26, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Carrie (Church) Bragaw, in Waterloo, Iowa. On May 31, 1934, she married Archie Keefer. They farmed in the Troy Mills area for many years until the death of Archie on March 15, 1961. Maxine then moved to Center Point, where she met Gerald Schnoebelen. They married on June 6, 1964. He passed away on April 16, 1983. Maxine married Glenn Hinrichsen on February 14, 1985, and he passed away April 27, 1991. On April 14, 1994, she married Lester Washburn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing, playing cards and being with people. Maxine will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Maxine.
