Max G. Morgan, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, September 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery with military rites.
Survivors include his son, Jeffrey G. Morgan (Dawn Petersen) of Marion; a step-daughter, Laurie Boone of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Donald (Frances) Morgan and Leland (Pauline) Morgan, both of Muscatine; a sister, Lucille Kennedy of Illinois City, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Max was preceded in death by two wives, Arda L. Lange and Sandra Kepler; his parents; a sister, Vera Metzger; and a step-son, Ronald Starr.
Max was born September 26, 1926, in Gladwin, Iowa, the son of Laurence and Lorena (Dennis) Morgan. He served in the United States Army. He then worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Letter Carriers Branch 373.
