Max E. Fiala, 75, Walker, Iowa, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Manor Care Health Services, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Troy Mills Christian Church, Troy Mills, Iowa, by Rev. Donald Cope and Rev. Les Larson. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker. Inurnment: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Walker; his son, Joe (Kim) Fiala of Walker; grandchildren, Melissa, Morgan and Matthew; great grandson, Maxwell; a sister, Helen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Max was born March 12, 1931, in Spring Grove Township, the son of Edward and Pearl (Zeller) Fiala. He graduated from Troy Mills High School and then served in the U.S. Marines. On October 2, 1955, he married Ruth Ann Ross in Mechanicsville, Iowa. Max spent his life farming. He was a member of the Troy Mills American Legion Floyd Williamson Post #712 since 1953 and a past 4-H leader.
