Mavis G. Wagner, 63, of rural Alburnett, died Thursday, October 14, 2004, at home following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2004, at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Center Point, by Rev. David Hansen. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette.

Survivors include her husband Edwin of Alburnett and five children and four grandchildren: Larae Wagner of Cedar Rapids, Leann (Ken) Schreiber of Bemidji, Minnesota; grandchildren, Nate and Ben Schreiber, Lisa Wagner of Toddville and grandchildren, Ashley and Jacob Holsinger, Lynette Wagner of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Edward Wagner of Pella. Also surviving are three sisters, Judy (Bob) Pinske and Erma Braunschweig, both of Minnesota, Joyce (Dick) Forsythe of Montana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Vernon Knutson and a sister, Shirley Kappes.

Mavis was born January 4, 1941, in Twin Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of Knute and Selma Agnus (Opsahl) Knutson. She married Edwin L. Wagner on February 15, 1958, in Minnesota. They moved to the Alburnett area in 1959. She worked at the Alburnett School as a cook and babysat many kids. Mavis enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a loving mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
