Maude W. Airhart, 101, of Manchester, Iowa died Friday morning, October 31, 2003, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa, following a long illness.

Services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester, Iowa, by the Reverend Roger B. Henry of the Manchester United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2003 at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.

Maude Winifred Airhart was born on December 17, 1901, in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of John O. and Margaret J. (Scanlon) Johnston.

She taught at the Little Red School near Manchester. On March 18, 1931, Maude was united in marriage to John Henry Airhart in Manchester. The couple operated the family farm until 1956, when they moved to a farm near the Manchester Fish Hatchery. Retiring in 1965, the couple moved to Manchester. John died on May 30, 1992. Maude moved to the Good Neighbor Home in 1995.

Maude is survived by two sisters, Nellie E. Carradus and Wilma M. Kehrli, both of Manchester, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Laura Johnston of Visalis, California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; three sisters, Ethel M. Wall, Ruth E. Cole & Ida F. McDowell; and a brother, Burl R. Johnston.
