Matthew Charles Jones, 51, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home. No services are scheduled. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisted the family.
Matt was born December 13, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Daniel “Casey” Jones and Diane (Bulicek) Gienapp. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and previously owned Jones Automotive in Cedar Rapids. Matt was a well-known mechanic that took pride in his honest and fair work. He loved building model cars, riding motorcycles, and mastering his skills over the grill. Above everything, he loved spending time with his grandsons. Matt will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughters, Payton Jones and Kourtney Bauer; grandsons, Jameson and Jayden O’Connor and Carson Bauer; siblings, Kelly Scheffert, Michael Gienapp, Carrie Gienapp, and Christie Nesteby; and his mother and step-dad, Diane and Marty Gienapp.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, Daniel “Casey” Jones.
