Mary Angela “Angie” Zieser, 89, a resident of Grandview Care Center in Oelwein, formerly of Urbana, died Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Oelwein, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, by Father Dave Ambrosy. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the church, where a Scripture service will begin at 7 p.m. Burial: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Urbana. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.

Survivors include her children, Keith (Joan) Zieser of Vinton, Duane (Judy) Zieser of Reno, Nevada, Patricia (James) Seevell of Vinton, Marlene (Richard) Tuttle of Urbana, Mary Koutny of Independence, Joanna (LeRoy) Richards of Fayette and Roseann (Craig) Murphy of Urbana; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; four sisters, Rose Weber, Alberta Evers, Margaret Ames and Agnes Walton; a brother, Francis O’Brien; two sons-in-law, Larry Koutny and Rick Yearous; and a granddaughter, Renae Walters.

Mary was born April 17, 1918, the daughter of John and Julia (Bremer) O’Brien, in Rock Valley, Iowa. On June 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Donald Zieser in Independence, Iowa. He died May 10, 2000. A farmwife and homemaker, Mary also was an owner/operator of Zieser’s Tap in Urbana for 21 years. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St Mary’s Rosary Society and the Birthday Club.
