Mary C. Taylor, 72, of Coggon, Iowa, formerly of Central City, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City. Mary was born August 8, 1944, in Central City to Dale and Mabel (Moore) Taylor. She was a 1962 graduate of Central City High School. Mary worked for almost 37 years at KCRG-TV, retiring in 2004, to complete her LEARN program and become a licensed minister with the United Church of Christ. She served from 2004-2010 as associate pastor at her home church, Central City United Church of Christ. She then became pastor at Golden Congregational United Church of Christ, Ryan, until the time of her death.

Mary loved writing, creating an original Christmas poem each year since 1968. But her greatest love was her family, which was measured by blood relatives and many non-blood relatives claimed by love.

Survivors include: brother, John (Beverly) Taylor; best friend, Patty Brashears Hatch and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Marla and April Christine, nieces Meagan and Hope, and nephew Joseph.

In lieu of flowers, Mary requested donations be made to the Central City United Church of Christ and Golden Congregational United Church of Christ, Ryan.
