Mary Louise Swanson, 81, 1330 West Mt. Vernon Rd., died suddenly on a family vacation, Friday, October 22, 2004, in Laughlin, Nevada. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Nick Longworth. Burial: Campbell Cemetery in Bertram. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Gugler and husband Wayne of Mt. Vernon; her son, Ron Swanson and wife Linda of Cedar Rapids; a brother, John Stoneking of Laughlin, Nevada; five grandchildren, Terry Gugler and wife Layne, Kristina Gugler, Heather Gugler, Stacie Osaka and husband John and Timothy Swanson and Chalise Hite; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Robert Stoneking.
Mary was born the daughter of Roy and Ethel (Peddycoart) Stoneking on June 1, 1923, in Mt. Vernon. On April 26, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lowell "Swede? Swanson in Grand Island, Nebraska. He died in 1990. Mary was a member of her local neighborhood card club, an avid morel mushroom hunter and before her husband?s death, they loved to go dancing. The family farm was an important part of her life.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
