Mary Grace Sullivan

Mary Grace Sullivan, 100, of Ryan died Monday, June 5, 2006 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester where she was lovingly cared for the last 2 ? years.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Ryan by Rev. Msgr. Ralph Simington. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester where there will be a Rosary at 3 p.m. and Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Grace was born July 2, 1905 in the Castle Grove Community, the daughter of William P. and Anna (Crowley) Fleming. She attended country school near Castle Grove and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, now known as Mt. Mercy, in Cedar Rapids. Grace attended teachers training at Loras College in Dubuque. She taught seven years in a one-room school near Castle Grove. On September 10, 1929 Grace was united in marriage to Harry V. Sullivan.
Grace was a devout member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Ryan where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She also belonged to the Mt. Mercy Alumni Association, American Legion Auxiliary and Farm Bureau. Grace was a musician. She played the organ at the Castle Grove Church; played in a dance band and enjoyed playing the piano all her life.
Grace is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Bohnenkamp of Ames and Mary Anne (David) Sanders of New Albany, IN; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, William & Anna Fleming; her husband Harry Sullivan in 1972; a son, Harold Sullivan; one daughter, Virginia Lucas; two brothers, James (Mary) and Paul (Bernadine) Fleming; and a son-in-law, Virgil Bohnenkamp.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick?s Church in Ryan or the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester in honor of Grace.
