Mary K. Spanos (Karagianis)

Mary K. Spanos, 87, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at the care center, following a lengthy illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Ciprian Sas. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Trisagion service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a sister, Anne Shabani of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids.
Mary was born February 2, 1921, the daughter of Fotios and Catherine (Papas) Karagianis in Samos, Greece. On November 3, 1938, she was united in marriage to Spiros C. Spanos in Samos. He died October 6, 1982. A homemaker, Mary also had worked at Mercy Hospital.
Survivors include a sister, Anne Shabani of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids.
