Mary Virginia Slife (Cope)

Mary V. Slife, 73, of Center Point, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Faith Bible Church in Robins, by Rev. Dale Holloway. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Mt Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her children, Nancy (Grant) Rees of Center Point, Ronald (Sally) Slife and David (Jennifer) Slife, both of Toddville, Krista (Robert) Stewart of Runnells, and Benjamin Slife of Coralville; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Donna Cope of Eldon, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry in 2007; and 2 brothers, Walter and Harold Cope.
Mary was born March 13, 1937 in Springville, the daughter of Byron H. and Sarah (Edgerton) Cope. On July 5, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to Larry Slife at the Christian Missionary Alliance in Cedar Rapids. Mary was a homemaker and had worked for Gentiva Home Health Care for several years. Mary enjoyed attending church and actively volunteering, especially in the educational areas of faith. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling, and attending activities for her children and grandchildren. Mary’s faith and her family were the focus and the loves of her life.
