Mary Sharp Robertson, 87, of Crestview Acres, Marion, formerly of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Viewing: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa. Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007, First United Methodist Church, Lincoln, Nebraska by Rev. John Sharp and Rev. Jamie Norwich McLennan. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mary was born March 19, 1919, the daughter of Grover and Esther (English) Sharp, on her parent?s farm one mile west of Beemer, Nebraska. She was the oldest of eight children. Mary graduated Valedictorian of the Beemer High School Class of 1938. On April 6, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Eugene F. Robertson at the Beemer Methodist Church. The couple lived in Wisner, Nebraska from April 6, 1941 to March 1942. On May 6, 1946, they moved to Lincoln. While her husband served in the US Army during WW II, Mary lived with her family in Beemer. Mary and Gene were very active members at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mary?s hobbies included craft and adult education classes, writing, and teaching Sunday school for 35 years. Mary was passionate about genealogy and wrote several family histories.
Mary is survived by three children, Jeanette Duncan of Montgomery, Alabama; Roy (Pamela) Robertson of Marion, Iowa; and Carol (Don) Stulken of Marion, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, John and Norman Sharp; two sisters, Jean Webster and Joan Bissell; and numerous other relatives.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on June 12, 1990; a sister, Lola Wright; two brothers, Harry and Edward Sharp.
