Mary Lizzie Ross, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Gilbert Williams Jr., Steve Williams, Raymond Ross and David Ross; grandchildren including, Scott Williams Meister, Terry Williams Meister, Kosha Ross, Dana Williams, JR and Shane Wedlund; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Lester Holmes, Lina Chase, Ruth Dietz and Minnie Bullock.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Phyllis Williams Wedlund; and siblings, Andy Holmes, Edward Holmes, Emma Brocksman and Helen Long.
Mary was born on September 22, 1926, in Ames, Iowa, daughter of Lester L. and Lily (Hall) Holmes. She married Earl “Tex” Ross, on December 27, 1955, in Iowa City, Iowa, he died on January 10, 1998. Mary worked at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
