Mary L. Roemig, 87, a resident of Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, and formerly of Middle Amana, passed away in her sleep, Saturday morning, November 13, 2004. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tom Carver. Burial: Hala Cemetery, rural Amana, Iowa. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Alan (Dolores) Roemig of Osage, Iowa, Norma (Warren) Hinzman of Middle, Iowa, Leslie (Peggy) Roemig of Middle, Iowa, and Marlene (Michael) Kloubec of Amana, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Henry; four brothers, August, Emil, Alvin and Carl Unkel; a sister, Peggy Peck; and a grandson, Scott Roemig, preceded her in death.
Born October 26, 1917, in Davenport, Iowa, to August and Caroline Graesser Unkel, she married Henry Carl Roemig on August 14, 1937, in Amana, Iowa. He died in 1982. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, creating things for others, and she loved her grandchildren.
