Mary Pierce, 72, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer October 30, 2015, surrounded by her family at her home in Marion. Celebration of Life: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Thomas Park Safe Room, Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Danette (Mike) Madison of Marion and children, Delaney and Miranda Madison; daughter, Danelle (Tom) Kydd of Marion and her children, Nick, Emily, Alison, and Nate Carney; son, Jason (Jenna) Pierce of Cedar Rapids and child, Ean Pierce; her late daughter Denise’s children, Kaiden, Karsyn, Kolin, Lily, Ryer, and Gabe Wilmoth; sister, Barbara (George) Kopetsky of Marion; her loyal pets, Brodie and Delilah; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Denise Wilmoth; parents, Robert & Bessie Bittner, and former husband and best friend, Dennis Winkie.
Mary was born on August 14, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Robert and Bessie (Wagner) Bittner. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School. Mary worked for Quaker Oats for close to 30 years before retiring in 2005.
She had a love of all animals and enjoyed watching her backyard squirrels and hummingbirds as they came to visit her. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden. But above all, Mary had an amazing and unconditional love for her family.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Danette (Mike) Madison of Marion and children, Delaney and Miranda Madison; daughter, Danelle (Tom) Kydd of Marion and her children, Nick, Emily, Alison, and Nate Carney; son, Jason (Jenna) Pierce of Cedar Rapids and child, Ean Pierce; her late daughter Denise’s children, Kaiden, Karsyn, Kolin, Lily, Ryer, and Gabe Wilmoth; sister, Barbara (George) Kopetsky of Marion; her loyal pets, Brodie and Delilah; and several nieces and nephews.
