Mary Eleanor O'Connor
December 16, 1912 — August 11, 2003
Mary Eleanor Jones O?Connor, 90, of 509 1st Avenue, died Monday, August 11, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2003, at Springville United Methodist Church by Rev. John Keizer. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Margene Howard and husband John of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Amy Frasher of Anamosa; her brother, Marion Jamison of Mechanicsville; and two grandchildren, Brandon Howard and Lisa McShane Allison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Alice Armstrong; and a brother, Noel Jamison.
Mary was born December 16, 1912, the daughter of Harry and Frances (Fisher) Jamison in Olin, Iowa. On June 27, 1936, she married Kenneth E. Jones. He died in 1951. She later married Merle O?Connor on December 30, 1972. He died in 1976. She was a seamstress all of her life and enjoyed oil painting with the Palette Pals for many years. Mary was a longtime member of Springville United Methodist Church where she served as Communion Steward and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a campfire leader. For the last several years Mary made hundreds of mittens for kids.
Mary was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
