Mary E. Morey, 86, of Central City, died Saturday, January 10, 2004, in Winslow House Care Center, Marion, after a lingering illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 7 p.m. today (Monday, Jan. 12.) Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mable E. Morey of Central City; two brothers, Lowell Sitler of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, and Richard Sitler of Callaham, Florida; three step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a son, James William Morey; and two sisters, Roma Phillips and Ruth Meyers.
Mary was born October 15, 1917, in North Lima, Ohio, to Wilson M. and Edna Sitler. On April 15, 1939, she was united in marriage there to William L. Morey. William died January 4, 1992. Mary retired after twenty-three years in food service at St. Francis (Covenant) Hospital in Waterloo. She was a member of United Church of Christ, Central City, and American Legion Auxiliary No. 421.
