Mary H. Moon, 92, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Knoxville, died Saturday, September 6, 2014, from a long illness, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids. Graveside Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Gosport Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; son, Fred (Pat) Thompson; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Takes and Betsy (Jeff) Phelps; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Courtney, Bailey, Nick and Skyler; brother, Jerry (Thelma) Stevenson; sister, Arlene Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Mary was born February 13, 1922, the daughter of John and Esther (McCorkle) Stevenson, in Marion County, Iowa. She married Marvin Moon on June 23, 1979, at the Little Brown Church. Mary worked for the Gazette as a proof reader, Iowa National Insurance and was a nursing assistant at the Knoxville VA Hospital.
