Mary “Margaret” Roling, 88, of Earlville died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville by Rev. Noah Deim Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Earlville where there will be a 7:00 Scripture Service. Additional visitation, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 29 at the Funeral Home prior to services. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Margaret was born April 14, 1925 in Dallas Texas, the daughter of John and Marie Anna (Jennett) Dickson. On October 25, 1947, Margaret was united in marriage to Henry A. J. Roling. The couple moved to Earlville, Iowa in 1947. Margaret was a homemaker and also worked for the City of Earlville as a Meter Secretary for eleven years.
Margaret was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earlville Legion Auxillary, the Earlville Community Club, and the EOT Club. She was famous for her great lime pickles and raspberry jam.
Margaret is survived by four children, Michael (special friend Vicki Rohrssen) Roling of Earlville, Patrick (Pam) Roling of Royse City, TX, Ann (Tom) Shipp of Plano, TX, and Kate Roling of Marion; three grandchildren, Matthew Roling, Megan Roling, and Holly Shipp; one sister, Jennett (Horace) Claire; and nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in June 2003, her parents, John and Marie Anna Dickson; and an infant brother.
