Mary Lou Kraciun, 88, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died Friday, September 15, 2023, at Grand Living at Indian Creek in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There will be no services held at this time. Private family inurnment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Clinton. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Lou was born on May 3, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Hulda (Bruhn) Monahan. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Paul D. Kraciun on October 23, 1954, in Clinton.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Christine Kascel of Marion; son-in-law, Kelley Kascel of Marion; four grandchildren, Michael Kascel of Berlin, Germany, Daniel Kascel of Cedar Rapids, Catherine Kascel of Marion, and Brooklynn Kascel of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Louis Kascel and Theodore Lightfoot; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, in 2012; grandson, Jacob Kascel; and brothers, Joseph Monahan II and William Monahan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary Lou’s honor may be made to the Clinton Humane Society. Cards and memorials may be sent to the family in care of Murdoch Funeral Home, 3855 Katz Drive, Marion, Iowa, 52302.
