Mary A. Goranson
April 11, 1926 — December 23, 2004
Mary A. Goranson, 78, of the Northeast Iowa Christian Retirement Community in Strawberry Point, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday December 27, 2004 at the Greeley United Methodist Church by Pastor Ruth Tibbott. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, and one hour before services on Monday. Burial will be in Pine View Cemetery in Delaware.
Mary was born on April 11, 1926, the daughter of Frank G. and Florence E. (Parker) Goranson in Delaware County. In 1944, Mary graduated from Greeley High School. She worked for Manchester Industries also known as Lewis Systems. In December 1990 Mary moved to the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point.
Mary enjoyed sports. She played softball and traveled all over the United States playing in bowling tournaments. Later years she enjoyed watching sports on television.
Mary is survived by two brothers, Robert (Marian) Goranson of Oneida and Lew (Shirley) Goranson of Greeley and a brother in law Ruben Schnurstein of Frederika.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Florence Goranson; a brother, Harold Goranson; and three sisters, Betty Jean Haynes, Dorothy Inez Goranson and Mabel Schnurstein.
