Mary Ann Gilliland
April 1, 1938 — September 10, 2005
Mary Ann Gilliland, 67, of 2310 27th St., was called Home by her Savior after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 10, 2005, in her home. Services: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of forty-six years, Dick; two children, Todd Gilliland and Sherri Gilliland, both of Marion; eight siblings, Dorothy Brain of Hedrick, Myrna Madsen of St. Charles, Missouri, Dallas Eckley of Hedrick, Jean Lacey of Center Point, Janet Maddy of Macomb, Michigan, Dennis Eckley of Brighton, Diana Eckley of Mayer, Arizona and Brenda Lamansky of Brighton; four grandchildren, Amber, Kelsy, Blake and Tori; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary was born April 1, 1938, the daughter of Dale and Frances (Smith) Eckley in Ollie, Iowa. She graduated from Hedrick High School in 1956. On June 27, 1959, she married Richard A. "Dick? Gilliland in Martinsburg, Iowa. Mary worked for Linn Mar Schools for over twenty years. She loved her cats and bird watching. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
