Mary K. Chaffee, 80, of Marion, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, officiated by Reverend Dr. Howard Chapman. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Mary was born November 29, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Byron and Kathleen (Ward) Faulkner. Mary married Jerry Chaffee on April 20, 1957, in Fremont, Nebraska. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion and O.O.P. Group. Mary worked for Robert Verhille and Associates in Marion. She retired in 1990.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jerry; sons, Christopher (Ian) Tucker, Theron (Laura) Chaffee; daughters, Sue (Dan) Hartung, Kathy (Jon) Bogert, Jennifer (Audie) Penn; grandchildren, Andrew (Jamie), Katie, and Mary Hartung; Ryan, Tommy, and Emily Chaffee; Jensen, Kevin, Melanie, and Logan Bogert; Mallory, Alexa and Alec Penn; great-granddaughter, Aurora Westfall-Chaffee; sister, Patricia McPherson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
