Mary Lou Bowers, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Pastor Kay Slocum. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Larry Bowers; five children, Sandy (Rick) Freese, Steven Bowers, Dixie (Bill) Heineman, Mary Lou (Dennis) Beadle, and Herbert Bowers; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Sally and Donna; and two brothers, Raymond and Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary was born January 8, 1935, the daughter of Herbert and Florence Williams in Cedar Rapids. On October 21, 1950, she married Larry Bowers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She retired from Rockwell Collins.

Mary was a member of First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, friends and family.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Mary’s memory.
