Mary F. Boubin, 86, of 347 24th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in the Silver Pines Assisted Living Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Boubin of Independence, Don (Betty) Boubin of Cedar Rapids and Pati (Jerry) Rabik of Shellsburg; grandchildren, Jerry, Debbie, Mike, Angie, Michele, Lisa, Amy, Dan, Renee, Jamie, April, Ashley and Sean; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Bonnie; grandchild, J.R.: and two brothers, Emil Klumpar and George Klumpar.
Mary was born March 17, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Georgia (Netik) Klumpar. A life long resident of Cedar Rapids, Mary graduated from Wilson High School. On May 27, 1939, she married Jerry Boubin. He died in 1977. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Lancer Lanes Bowling Alley.
Mary will be remembered as a person that was always helping others. She enjoyed many things in life. She loved taking pictures of her family. If she was not spending time with her family, you could find her outside working in her yard. She had a great love for animals. For relaxation, she would sit and watch the birds and squirrels. She enjoyed socializing and belonged to a sewing club, was a Campfire leader and contributed much of her time to the church. Mary devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She had a famous saying which she lived by “Love One Another”. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in Mary’s memory.
