Mary Jo Bills, 68, of 3862 Lost Valley Rd. SE, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at home, following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by Father John Kramer. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, William "Bill? F. Bills; three children, William D. Bills and wife Debbie, Pamela Jo Kaufman and husband Gary and Michael F. Bills and wife Sandy; and seven grandchildren, Megan and David Bills, Haley and Kelsey Bills, and Zach, Jake, and Sarah Kaufman.
Also surviving are her sister, Dianne Osmanski of Apple Valley, Minnesota; three brothers, Dave (Lyn) Becker of Yankton, South Dakota, Charles (Linda) Becker of Waterloo, and Norm (Rhonda) Becker of Freeport; a brother-in-law, Earl Bills of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, S.H. and Cecilia Becker; a brother-in-law, Frank; and her mother and father-in-law, Wendell and Evelyn Bills.
Mary Jo was born March 18, 1939, the daughter of S.H. and Cecilia (Kayser) Becker in Gilbertville. On June 22, 1963, she married William F. Bills. Mary Jo worked as a bookkeeper in the family business for thirty-five years with her husband and sons. Her first priority was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mary Jo was an excellent caregiver and devoted much time caring for her mother, Cecilia and, mother in-law, Evelyn. She loved to dance with her husband, golf, and had learned to play piano later in life.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Saint Monica Circle, Cedar Rapids Garden Club, and Elks Club No. 251. Mary Jo also volunteered time with Mercy Auxiliary and Mercy Hospital. She also supported the Mercy Hospice House.
