Mary Anne Dale, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, with her family by her side. A private Funeral Mass will take place at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Those in attendance are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Mary Anne was born on January 11, 1932, in Manson, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Carey) King. She graduated from Ames High School and went on to attend the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Mary Anne was united in marriage to William C. Dale, Jr., on August 28, 1954 in Ames, Iowa. For 23 years she worked at Mercy Medical Center’s operating room as an orthopedic nurse. Mary Anne was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Matthews Catholic Church, and St. Jude Catholic Church.
Mary Anne enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the choir, walking hand in hand with Bill, and attending more basketball, football, baseball, softball, soccer, and concerts than you can imagine! We will miss you in the stands.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, William C. Dale, Jr., of Cedar Rapids; children, Susan (Ladd) Heath of Iowa City, Anne Lala (Rob, deceased), Maureen (John) Dale Ernst, all of Cedar Rapids, Mary Beth (Bob) Seidl of Urbandale, Iowa, Colleen Dale (Ilene Coon) of Bloomington, Minnesota, Meg (Larry) Boer of Walker, Iowa, Pat (Susie) Dale of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Jaleh) Dale of Hayward, California, Cathy (Dave) Peters of Urbandale, and Carey Dale of Des Moines; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mary King; daughter, Laurie Dale; brothers, Tom King and Kenny King; sister, Alice Jane Harkins; and son-in-law, Rob Lala, Jr.
Memorials may be directed to Anne Lala, 3003 Q Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405, for a memorial fund at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Laurie Dale who passed away at age 6 from leukemia.
