Mary Alberta Belden, 76, of Marion, reunited with her husband on their anniversary date, January 28. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with a vigil service beginning at 4:00 p.m. The family will also greet guests one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Brian Belden; Valerie (Bill) Terpstra; Lori (Dave Hartman) Scott, Lisa (Jerry) Kimm; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Norton, and Ashley, Melissa, and Brooke Kimm; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kobe Norton; sister, Sheilah (Chuck) Clark; and sister-in-law, Vi (Larry) Krull.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Belden; great-grandchild, Aiden Norton; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mary was born March 28, 1936, in Wadena, IA, the daughter of Clement and Nadine (O’Hallaron) Messerli. She married Wayne Belden on January 28, 1956, in Wadena. Wayne died October 17, 1993. Mary worked for Rockwell Collins for over 25 years. She was a very crafty person, and enjoyed Bingo and bowling. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, and was an eye donor for the Iowa Lions Club and encourages others to do the same. Most of all, Mary greatly loved her grandchildren.
