Marvin G. Skala, 71, of 2436 Victoria Drive S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, July 05, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; mother, Elizabeth Skala-Becicka of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Cheryl Hadley and husband Bryan of Marion; son, Scott Skala and wife Monique of Fayetteville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Sarah Hadley and Lauren Hadley both of Marion; brother, Robert Skala of Cedar Rapids; and granddog, Solomon.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father.
Marvin was born April 6, 1937, the son of Gerorge and Elizabeth (Detert) Skala. On February 16 1958, he married Linda Hartman in Monticello, Iowa. He was employed by Wilsons for 35 years and Midland Forge for 12 years.
Marvin was a member of the Eastern Iowa Road Riders and enjoyed gardening, eating out with friends and especially working at the Iowa Hawkeye sporting events.
