Marvin Duane Siefken, 90, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, November 07, 2016, at Norhtbrook Manor Care, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Marvin passed away from complications due to having Type I Diabetes Disease for over 85 years. Family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Service: 11 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Dennis Johnson.
Marvin was born June 25, 1926, in White, South Dakota, the son of Albert and Bertha (Claaussen). He married Marjorie Carter on June 30, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Marvin spent 28 years working for Nash Finch Company in advertising.
Not only did Marvin enjoy time spent with family, he loved to spend time in his woodworking shop doing projects of all kinds including, scroll wood working.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Penelope) Siefken of Marion; grandchildren, Jason Duane (Lindsay) and Jamie Richard (Jennifer) Siefken; and great-grandchildren, Dean Siefken, Brody Siefken and Crosby Siefken.
In addition to survivors are step-grandchildren, Candy Ellertson and Clint Pirkel; and step-great-grandchildren, Ashlin Pirkel, Tyler Ellertson, and Adam Ellertson.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
