Marvin R. Moon, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Graveside service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Gosport Cemetery, Marion County. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his son, Fred (Pat) Thompson; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Takes and Betsy (Jeff) Phelps; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Courtney, Bailey, Nick and Skyler; nephews, Kurt (Mary) Moon and Scott (Michelle) Moon; and nieces, Terri (Tom) Taylor and Lorri (John) Steinke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and brothers, Norman Moon and Wayne Moon.
Marvin was born on April 4, 1927, in Chariton, Iowa, son of Omar and Blanche Moon. On June 23, 1979, he married Mary Stevenson at the Little Brown Church. Marvin farmed for many years on a century farm in Lucas county and later worked for the VA hospital in Knoxville.
