Marvin Fredrick Hinrichs, 81, of rural Ryan, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at home, following a short illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church in Coggon by Father Wayne Droessler. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery in Monticello.
Survivors include his wife, Grace of Ryan; a daughter, Kathy (James) Hall of Cedar Rapids; a son John (Pam) Hinrichs of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Agnes Lerch; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and step-children, Carol Ruden, Neil, Gary, Greg, Doug Hirtz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arthur Hinrichs; a great-grandchild; a step-daughter, Julie Wemmer; and a step-son, Jeff Hirtz.
Marvin was born July 9, 1926, the son of Folkar and Klara (Feddersen) Hinrichs in Clarence. He married Marguerite Fothergill. She preceded him in death. On May 7, 1983, he married Grace Schockemoehl Hirtz in Ehler. Marvin served with the U.S. Army during WWII with the occupation forces in Japan. He was a lifelong farmer.
Marvin was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Coggon, the two cylinder club, and Ryan American Legion Post No. 692.
A memorial fund has been established in Marvin’s memory.
