Marvin L. Bentrott, 76, of 449 County Home Road, Springville, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Del Bear. Burial: Springville Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday (July 26.)
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Rosella; a daughter, Gayla Bates of Springville; and a grandson, Brandon Bates of Springville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Norbert Bentrott.
Marvin was born the son of Leo and Elsie Arp Bentrott on March 12, 1929, in New Liberty, Iowa. He attended rural schools in Scott County and graduated from Davenport High School in 1947. Marvin and Rosella Elaine Dierksen were united in marriage on January 31, 1951, in Davenport. He farmed his entire live and also worked for thirty years at Wilson?s (Farmstead Foods). Marvin was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Springville American Legion Post 331, who will provide military honors.
Marvin enjoyed country music and checking on his crops and cattle.
