Marty Allen Boots, 38, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids with a Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Marty was born July 28, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Dixie (Boots) Thornton. He graduated from Washington High School, Cedar Rapids. Marty enjoyed spending time with his friends at Options of Linn County, REM and To The Rescue. He participated in the Special Olympics, competing in the softball throw and the 50 meter dash. Marty enjoyed watching Dog The Bounty Hunter and John Cena the wrestler. He looked forward to prom at the Elks Lodge and even wrote his own rap songs and sang them. Marty loved his family and his dogs.
Marty is survived by his mother and step-father, Dixie and Bob Thornton; brother, Dustin Boots; sister, Jennifer Isbell; grandmother, Virginia Boots; aunt, Darlene Crawford; cousin, Trinity (TJ) Boots; and great aunt, Patty Zach.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alvin Lloyd Boots, Sr.
