Marty Vine, 50, of Walker, passed into a new life on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his home. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home Center Point. Private Inurnment at a later date in Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Vine of Walker; children, Sondra, Spencer and Maria Vine still at home; his mother, Dorothy Sunday of Decorah; siblings, Carl (Joi) Vine of Johnstown, Ohio, Jeff (Patti) Vine of Oakdale, California, and Crystal Vine (Scott Shay) of Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, Jean Wright of Center Point; in-laws, Julie (Russ) Runyan of Johnston, Iowa, Rick (Tami) Wright of Urbana and Sheryl (Matt) Wade of Center Point; and his nieces and nephews, Andrew & Chris Vine, Jenny & Jessi Mrkvicka, Sarah Vine, Alyssa, Alex & Addilyn Wade, Riley & Tiffani Wright, and Jacob Runyan.
Marty was preceded in death by his father, Arne Vine; father-in-law Larry Wright; and step-father, Rod Sunday.
Marty was born on May 11, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, son of Arne & Dorothy (Alberts) Vine Sunday. He attended Alburnett schools and graduated from Center Point High School in 1980. Marty worked for Hatch Farms and later Becker Farms. He moved to Austin, Texas, in 1984, where he worked for T.D.S. On January 11, 1986, he married Kim Wright at Sacred Heart Church in Walker. The couple returned to Iowa in 1993 where Marty worked for Cargill. In 2000, he went to work for Quaker Oats until January of 2012 when he was diagnosed with cancer. Marty farmed and enjoyed landscaping and fishing.
