Martin Lee Boyse, 60, of Alburnett, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a time for sharing memories during the service. The family will continue to greet friends immediately following the service at the Boyse Farm, bring a dish if you wish to share. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett.
Martin was born July 29, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donn and Dixie (Martin) Boyse. He graduated from Alburnett High School in 1977. On May 12, 1979, in Marion, Iowa, Martin was united in marriage to Sandra Kaye Kuehl. He was employed by Linn County Solid Wast Agency until retiring in 2012. He also farmed and was the owner/operator of Jagman Landscaping. Marty was a member of the AC/DC Diamond Club and the Alburnett Garden Club as well as an Otter Creek Township Trustee. Marty was a master gardener, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He had a great love for his family and the land. Marty loved to cook and entertain. Any job he did had to be perfect and he took great pride in his work. Marty was always willing to lend a helping hand and volunteer.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Boyse; daughter, Trisha (Shane) Leahy; son, Lee (Kaitlin) Boyse; granddaughters, Victoria Lee Leahy and Cecilia Lee Boyse; parents, Donn and Dixie Boyse; sisters, Debra (Randy) Sweet and Marcia (Greg Arendsee) Boyse; father and mother-in-law, Doug and Joyce Kuehl; as well as many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Oralee Martin and Lee and Kathryn Boyse; and uncle, James “Jimmy” Dee Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marty’s memory may be directed to the Alburnett Garden Club or the Alburnett Volunteer Fire Department.
