Martha Marie Winch, 79, of Marion, died Thursday, November 3, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital following a sudden illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion by Rev. Kevin Jones and Rev. Dennis Johnson. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Martin of Marion; her children, April (David) Lubbock of Shellsburg, Bruce (Angie) Winch of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Cathy (Dean Schmidt) Winch of Marion, and Randy (Jody) Winch of Marion; eighteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her siblings, Catharine (Alvin) Licht, Emma Lange, and Annie (Edgar) Hintz, all of Lowden, Alberta (Marvin) Boysen of Marion, and Ervin (Marcia) Oltmanns of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ludwig and Henry; and a sister, Lena.
Martha was born January 29, 1932, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Hinrichs) Oltmanns in Anamosa. On November 10, 1957, she married Martin Winch at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in Monticello. She and Martin co-owned Marty and Marty Toys. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed giving them to her family and friends. Martha and Martin enjoyed visiting casinos.
She was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Martha.
