Martha M. Vanourny

Martha Marie Simanovsky Vanourny, 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died January 10, 2017, at the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa. Private family graveside service will be held at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Martha was born February 20, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ludvik and Barbara (Kubalek) Simanovsky. On February 27, 1941, she married James H. Vanourny. Martha was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marion as well as Waltonian Archers. She enjoyed watching her husband play in the Czech National Band and photographed the Band’s concerts.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Buresh of Cedar Rapids, Katherine Vanourny (Vincent) Huelskamp of Longmont, Colorado; five grandchildren, Brian (Denise Miller) and Bradley (Cheri) Buresh, V.T., Matthew (Leigh) and Erika Huelskamp; seven great-grandchildren, Paige, Taylor, Lindsey (Daniel Bleichner), Amy (McGowan), Ashley Buresh, Sara and Laura Huelskamp; seven great-great-grandchildren, Junia, Evangeline, Jonah, Joseph, Elealeh Bleichner, Christopher and Leah McGowan; her sister-in-law, Pat Simanovsky of California; and brother-in-law, Louis Vanourny.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Dennis Buresh; and brother, Franklin Simanovsky.
