Martha Wilhelmina Sawyer, 88, of rural Center Point died peacefully in her sleep, Monday, October 6, 2003, in her home. Services: 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2003, First Christian Church in Center Point, by Rev. John Caughron. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Loretta and husband Gene Dufoe of Mesa, Arizona, Don and wife Yvette Sawyer of Center Point, Iowa, and Karen Pollock of rural Center Point; eleven grand-children, Dwight and wife Leslie Pollock of Van Horne, Daniel and wife Paula Pollock of rural Center Point, Deborah Huffman and friend Mike Torner of Mount Vernon, Donette and husband Dick White, Kyle Sawyer and Chad Sawyer, all of Center Point, Bea Felter and husband Darrin of Cedar Rapids, Gina and husband Doug Larison of Robins, Daryl and wife Carol Dufoe of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Shelley Dufoe of Mexico City, Mexico, Von Dufoe of St. Charles, Missouri, and Tony Huffman of Mount Vernon; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Emma Hoard of Waterloo and a brother Alvin Rossberg of Clearwater, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merl Sawyer; her parents; four brothers and five sisters.

Martha was born January 21, 1915, at Hackensack, Minnesota, the daughter of Karl and Fanny (Horbel) Rossberg. She was a member of First Christian Church in Center Point, Iowa, which she attended regularly and had served on various committees and donated many hours and items. Martha loved her farm, gardening, and her family. She also enjoyed quilting and loved playing cards.
