Martha Emma Kouba Simanek, 95, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, Iowa, died Thursday, October 23, 2003, at the care center, following a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include a son, Donald and wife Constance Tietge Simanek, of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Libby Booth; and three brothers, Milo Kouba, Paul Kouba and Godfrey Kouba.
Martha was born February 22, 1908, the daughter of Frank and Emma Zamastil Kouba, on a farm near Victor, Iowa. On June 27, 1928, she was united in marriage to Fred Simanek in Walker, Iowa. He died March 16, 1991. Together with her husband, they farmed near Walker until 1966, and then retired to the Center Point area.
