Marshall E. Erney, 77, a resident of the Sunny Hill Care Center, Tama, Iowa, formerly of Walker, died there Sunday, September 28, 2008, following a long illness. Services will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Mary (Peter) Lamoy of Tennessee, Kathryn (William) Rosenberger of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, Richard Erney of Walker, Kenneth (Karen) Erney of Walker and Matthew Erney of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Bill Erney of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Leroy Erney of Quakertown, Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Betty Beahm of Quakertown, Pennsylvania and Edna Pavalinski of Slatington, Pennsylvania.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents.
Marshall was born May 13, 1931, in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Orlando and Emma Erney. At a very young age he started working at Longacre Poultry, where he worked for 19 years. He then opened Zion Hill Garage. He later operated a sanitation hauling business in Iowa.
Marshall loved horses, gardening and hunting.
