Marshall "E? Barrington, 72, of 940 Keyes Court, Marion, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, in the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home following a long illness with Lewy Body Dementia. A memorial service will be held at Hope United Church of Christ, 150 Ninth Avenue, Hiawatha, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2007. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. before the service. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joyce; two sons, Kim Barrington and wife Jan of Overland Park, Kansas, and Scott and wife Silmara of Centennial, Colorado; grandson, Zachary Barrington, with the USMC, Camp Pendelton, California; and brother-in-law, Rodney Kellett and wife, Kathy of Lakewood, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jorja Ann Barrington.
Marshall was born Friday, April 13, 1934, to Marden E. and Eva Jane (Leatherman) Barrington in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, Kansas, and attended Fort Hays State College in Fort Hays, Kansas, before joining the U.S. Coast Guard in 1956. He worked for Naval Intelligence in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1967 to 1972, and was a special agent with the Department of Defense from 1972 until his retirement in 1989. He was united in marriage to Joyce Kellett on December 30, 1963, in Lakewood, Ohio.
Marshall loved to fly fish, a skill that he learned from his father. He enjoyed watching football, hockey and holds the shot put record at Ellsworth High School set in 1952.
