Marlin M. Metcalf, 68, of 1824 Central Dr SW, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Living Center West, after a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2003, at First Church of the Open Bible, by Rev. Dan Sanford and Rev. Charles Stevens. Friends may call from 3-7 on Thursday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; a son, James and wife Becky and granddaughter, Bryn, of Swan, Iowa; a daughter, Kim Niffenegger and husband Guy and grandchildren, Jennifer and James, of Cedar Rapids; an uncle, Raymond Reece and aunts, Clara, Carol & Mary Reece, two step-daughters, Clarabelle Taylor and husband Raymond of Central City and Dorothy Grimm and husband Garry of Cedar Rapids; three step-sons, Maynard Wart and wife Lola of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Elmer Wart of Cedar Rapids, Richard Ward and wife Shirley of Cosa Grande, Arizona; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Lurah Metcalf and uncles Marion, Vernon, Edwin and Marvin Reece.

Marlin was born September 1, 1934, in Winthrop, Iowa, the son of Forrest and Lurah (Reece) Metcalf. He married Elsie M. McLucas on January 10, 1987 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Marlin was employed at Weyerhauser for 15 ? years and Yellow Cab until his retirement in 1989. He was an avid fisherman.
