Marlene Trimble, 70, Urbana, Iowa, died Thursday, September 18, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a long illness. Services: Monday, September 22, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at Urbana Christian Church, Urbana, Iowa, by the Rev. John Felts. Friends may call from 2-6, Sunday, September 21, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Richard of Urbana, her children, Patsy (Joseph) Byrnes of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Paul (Robin) Trimble of Urbana, Iowa, and Roy Trimble of Urbana; her sisters, Bobette Trimble of Marion, Nancy (Greg) Hapgood of Marion, Nona Cummings of West Des Moines, Judy (Don) Nemec of Radcliff, Kentucky, Jana (Paul) Seifferlein of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Wendy (Rick) Arnold of Bullhead City, Arizona; her brothers, Gale (Bea) Horning of Marion, Jack (Linda) Horning of Cedar Rapids, Jay Horning of Central City, and Mike (Sherry) Horning of Shellsburg; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carol Busenbark and Georgia Altman and a brother, Bobbie Horning. Marlene was born June 7, 1933, the daughter of George E. and Maxine Thelma (Davenport) Horning, in Vinton, Iowa. On August 26, 1951, she married Richard Trimble in Marion, Iowa. She worked at the Urbana Schools, helped at the Urbana Preschool and most recently was the Assistant Librarian at the Center Point Library. Marlene was a member of the Urbana Christian Church, Christian Women?s Fellowship, past Board Chairwoman, Elder, Choir, and Deaconess. She was the past chairman of Benton County Farm Bureau of Women, and past president of Benton County Federated Women?s Club. Marlene was a member of the Bayview Club, Birthday Club, Helping Hand and Friendly Neighbor Club. She loved to read, create crafts, crochet, knit and enjoyed flowers and butterflies. She also was well known for baking the best cookies. Marlene will be greatly missed by family and friends. A memorial fund has been established.
