Marlene Marie Simon, 82, of Marion, formerly of Ogden, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at The Villages at Marion. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, by Pastor Jan Horn. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at the funeral home in Marion, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial: Oakshade Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include her siblings, Merle (Mary) Muench of Hastings, MN, Marva Jean (Glenn) Stark of Boxholm, IA, Merlin (Joleen) Muench of Panora, IA, John (Stephanie) Muench of Prior Lake, MN, Dwight (Dianna) Muench of Ogden, IA, and Linda (Ronald) Trudo of Ogden, IA; and nieces and nephews (who meant the world to Ted and Marlene), Michelle Coder, Mike Muench, Marcy Gerads, Marc Muench, Sheri Gedlinske, Joni Miller, Jeff Muench, Chris Baker, Clint Muench, Carter Muench, Eric Trudo, Anne Trudo, Joe Magill, Jenny Elliott, Judy Shostak, Brenda Faber, and Gregg Muench.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Bernice Muench; husband, Theodor D. Simon; sister, Madonna Sue Magill; brother-in-law, Harold Magill; and niece, Pam Magill.
Marlene was born October 16, 1932, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Bernice (Heineman) Muench. She graduated from Boxholm High School and attended Tobin Business College. Marlene married Theodor D. Simon on September 16, 1967. Throughout their 34 years of marriage, they enjoyed many fishing trips and community gardening together. She was employed at Collin Radio for 42 years. Marlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #298 of Marion, Rockwell Craft Club, and enjoyed community theatre activities.
