Marlene Ann Vesey Eastman, 70, of 4113 High Woods Drive, Center Point, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, of cancer. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by Chaplain Christine Wagner-Hecht. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Loran, of Center Point; one son, Bret (Carla) Vesey of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Kim Yerkes of Sugar Grove, Illinois; three step-children, Pamela (Randy) Anderson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Paul Eastman of Fargo, North Dakota, and Eric Eastman of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Henry (Lois) Poppe of Center Junction; two grandchildren, Miranda and Mic Vesey; and step-grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Thomas; and twin sister, Carlene.
Marlene was born April 12, 1939 in Monticello, to Emil and Lucille (Redmond) Poppe. Marlene was married to Thomas Michael Vesey July 28, 1957. Tom died December 11, 1992. Marlene then married Loran Eastman in 1995. Marlene retired from Rockwell Collins, where she worked for 20 years.
