Marla K. Taylor, 66, of Coggon, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Central City United Church of Christ by Rev. Vicki Engelmann. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, April; grandchildren, Taylor Smith, David (Lisa) Hayes, Dan Hayes and Samantha Schnepf; great-grandchildren, Tylor, Kyle, Tristin, Alayna, Landon, Bricen, Axten, and Lainee; and a sister, Mary Taylor; a brother, John (Beverly) Taylor; best friend, Zeineb Mehdi; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, April Lynn Walton; and an infant son Joseph L. Grommon, Jr.
Marla was born October 19, 1946, the daughter of Dale and Mabel (Moore) Taylor in Central City. She was a 1964 graduate of Central City High School. She worked as a secretary for many years, excelling in organization and accuracy. Marla was the first woman to serve on the Central City Council, where she served one term.
Marla was an excellent artist and loved doing crafts. But her greatest love was her family, which was measured by blood relatives and many non-blood relatives claimed by love.
Marla’s family would like to express their thanks for the loving care by Dr. Mary Ann Nelson, Pastor Vicki Engelmann, and the Hospice of Mercy team, including, Nancy, Barb, Sara, Rachel, Suzanne, Annette, Pastor Christine, and hospice house nurses, April and Shonda.
In lieu of flowers, Marla requested donations be made to the National Fibromyalgia Association.
