Mark J. Winter, 71, of Earlville, died of leukemia, Saturday, December 22, 2007 peacefully in his home with his family at his side.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville by Rev. Herbert Tegeler. Family will greet friends from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville where there will be a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Visitation also one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Earlville.

Mark was born June 15, 1936 in Waucoma, Iowa, the son of Victor and Agnes (Bodensteiner) Winter. He graduated from Earlville High School in 1954. On October 18, 1958 he was united in marriage to Ann Jaeger of Worthington. Together they farmed outside of Earlville for the last 38 years. Mark was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Ann Winter of Earlville; six children, Kathy (Bob) Sabers of Earlville, Kevin (Karin) Winter of Ft. Myers, FL, Karla (John) O’Connor of Dubuque, Mike (Claire) Winter of Stillman Valley, IL, Julie (Joe) Freeland of Alburnett and Joe (JoAnn) Winter of Earlville; 19 grandchildren, Molly, Megan and Jamie Sabers, John and Tim Winter, Alec, Aaron and Anna O’Connor, Christina, Elizabeth, Thomas, Katherine and Samuel Winter, Jennifer, Joey and Jill Freeland and Nichole, Kelly and Paige Winter; and his siblings, Victoria Winter of East Dubuque, IL, Janet Maiers of Earlville, Jackie (David) Stammeyer of Farmington and Bernie (Cathy) Winter of Brule, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Victor & Agnes Winter; and a brother, Luke Winter.
