Mark William Grundy, 46, of 1365 Harold Dr. SE, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, following a sudden illness. Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Father John Gossman. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Mona of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Maggie Grundy of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter, Jessica Alexander of Colorado Springs, Colorado and her daughter, Kira; his parents, Bill and Sharron Grundy of Marion; a brother, Matt (Trish) Grundy of Marion; a sister, Chris (Bill) Abigt of Ottumwa; his maternal grandmother, Bertha Ozburn of Marion and grandmother Myrtle Ozburn of Marion; and many loving family members.
Mark was born April 21, 1960, the son of William and Sharron (Ozburn) Grundy in Marion. He graduated from Marion High School in 1978. On September 2, 1986, he married Mona Cooper in Austin, Texas. Mark was an independent contractor for Midwest Fastener. He was an avid golfer who always enjoyed his time on the course. Mark was a fan of the Cubs, Bears, and the Hawkeyes.
